Welcome to ... The MR. TWILIGHT Series |
|
A MAN. A DEMON. AN ANGEL. WILL THEY SAVE THE WORLD . . . OR DESTROY IT? In a Greenwich Village townhouse, a mysterious man named Colin, an orphan raised by sorcerers skilled in dark magic, awakens to find the talisman known as the Trine missing from its place of safekeeping -- and an angel named Zoel impatiently ringing his doorbell. Thus begins the saga of the Trine as told in Michael Reaves' HELL ON EARTH, and which picks up with a completely new story in MR. TWILIGHT. As one reader enthused: "Very good story!! A sequel is a sure thing, and that's a good thing also!!" |

Praise for Hell On Earth |
"The birth of a demonic monster in a small Alabama town signals the beginning of a nightmare of terror that has its source in the eternal war between good and evil. In order to prevent the triumph of Hell, a young man versed in the ways of magic must join forces with agents of Heaven and Hell to recover a magical talisman that holds the forces of darkness at bay. Set in the same universe as Street Magic and Voodoo Child, this belongs in most libraries' horror or dark fantasy collections." -- Library Journal
"A magician named Colin, who trained in the dark arts in his mysterious youth, has custody of three talismans, which are stolen. A dazzling angel, Zoel, appears at his door, and soon after a personable, "good" demon joins them for a chase across Transylvania to recover the talismans. Why? The forces of hell are about to be loosed for a struggle preceding Armageddon, and the talismans are humankind's only defense. Several demons make violent appearances, prompting reporter Liz Russell -- who, in the novel's best scene, has been buried alive--to heed a premonition that she should travel to Las Vegas. Joining her are Terry Dane, a former army ranger and bodyguard who has stumbled onto demon doings, and Colin, whose recovery of two talismans points him toward the location of the third. Reaves ... moves things right along and manages to keep at least some of his cards to his chest." -- BOOKLIST
"Michael Reaves has written a serio-comic tale about the cosmic forces of heaven and hell on earth. The author's skills show up throughout the tale, but especially when he makes the verbal exchanges between the mage, an angel, and a demon humorous yet solemn, a clear testimony to a wonderful author. Though the ending is fulfilling, loose strings exist so one can conclude that a sequel is forthcoming." -- BOOKBROWSER
"If you relish your horror served up hot with a Clive Barker shiver, crafted with the no-nonsense precision of an Ed McBain procedural, and lightly dusted with a surreal touch of Mission: Impossible by way of The Twilight Zone, then Hell on Earth is the book that's going to keep you up for a couple of long, dark, creepy nights, savoring every minute. Michael Reaves knows his stuff -- and let's hope we never find out how he gets his information." -- Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens, authors of Icefire, Quicksilver, Prime Directive
Readers said:
"Epic horror fantasy ... an engaging and inventive book that I recommend for horror-fantasy fans. -- Jim Lay
"Awesome! This is one of the best books I've read in a long, long time. It was very engrossing and well-written, and I loved the characters. Very original." -- Anonymous Reader
"Very good story!! A sequel is a sure thing, and that's a good thing also!!" -- Stephen D. Isenhower
"Amazing supernatural thriller! This is the best fantasy thriller I've read in a long time. It's horror with a touch of fantasy --or fantasy with a touch of horror ... but whatever you call it, it's a thrilling, page-a-minute adventure in a world where magic and angels and demons are real, though most of us don't know it. ... I couldn't put this down. I hope there are more books to come about Colin and his mysterious calling. Michael Reaves is definitely an author to watch. -- Anonymous Reader

Reviewers say . . .
A rare bookshop find sends an avid horror fiction fan into danger while a fighter against the demonic battles a hole in the fabric of reality. Connections between the two events will bring in an investigation team unique in their ability to chase a killer through an underground occult world in this gripping story perfect for dual fans of mysteries and science fiction. -- Diane C. Donovan, California Bookwatch for Midwest Book Review
Readers say . . .
I have read books, some best sellers, that have a great opening and middle but fizzle with a weak ending. It is at these times that I often think of the question posed by the late wonderful singer Peggy Lee: 'Is that all there is?' To Ms. Lee's question, I have good news. MR. TWILIGHT more than satisfies. Besides having a tantalizing opening and a remarkably well sustained middle, it has a knock out ending that makes the reader say wow! Ms. Lee would be proud. -- Thabo Nkomo
The back cover says . . .
In a bookshop specializing in rare volumes, an avid fan of horror fiction seizes a tome too valuable and too incredible to fathom. In the end, the man was too curious to live . . .
A few miles away, in a Manhattan brownstone. another man learns about the explosion that has left a gaping hole in the fabric of reality. Colin -- he has no other name -- has been an unrelenting warrior against the dark, the demonic, and the damned. A man who has angels at his side and Hell staring him in the face, he as devoted his life to solving magical crimes and tracking down -- and neutralizing -- the perpetrators of those crimes, human and nonhuman alike. Now Colin is about to team up with a beautiful Native American a long way from home and a tough NYPD detective who seems to be immune to magic. Together, in a funhouse of evidence and apparitions, they are chasing a killer and untangling a tale that leads from the infamous Vlad the Impaler to the gorgeous daughter of a dead pulp fiction writer.
MR. TWILIGHT combines the mystical and the mysterious, the supernatural and the primitive, in a a rich, steamy brew of otherworldly adventure.
My collaboration with Michael on the novel previously known as ARMAGEDDON BLUES, then BRIMSTONE BLUES came about because of my partnership with Marc Zicree. I can't thank Marc enough for introducing me to Michael. Working with him is fun and inspiring. Our writing styles flow so seamlessly together, I sometimes have trouble remembering who wrote what.
MR. TWILIGHT, edited by the talented and dauntless Shelly Shapiro at Del Rey, is now available at bookstores everywhere. Naturally, I'll be hawking it at any and all conventions I attend this year.
